A Birthday Drenched in Fun

During the hot summers in the Arizona deserts there is only
one way to have an outdoor birthday party.

My grandson celebrated his third birthday by hosting
a water party for all of his cousins.

It was a very hot day but the party guests didn't even notice.

The back yard was filled with all kinds of water activities.
The big slide was the hot spot for the big cousins.

They also had a slip in slide, a fun sprinkler, and a kiddie pool.

These two cousins who are just younger and just older than the
birthday boy loved jumping into the kiddie pool.

They also spent lots of time negotiating who's turn
it was to go down little kid size slide.

You might notice that the birthday boy is
missing in action!

It turned out that he didn't want anything to do with the big splashes
or the screams and squeals of his cousins.

The real water celebration for him started
once all of his guests were gone.
His parents had to later pry him off of the
big water slide to go inside for the night.

The birthday treat was ice cream bars and ice cream sandwiches.

Not only did the kids have a great time playing
in the water but as a bonus the back yard lawn, garden,
and shade trees got a good irrigation.

With plenty of adult supervision and sunscreen
 this is a simple, inexpensive,
and really cool way to celebrate a summer birthday.

  1. Love it! My post for tomorrow (which I wrote this morning) is about Bubby's Arizona birthday party -- at the Splash Pad! Yep, seems that water parties are the way to go in the desert!

  2. Looks like fun. It seems that anything involving water is always a hit.
